IN-Chicago is supporting the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce presentation of Europe 2020: Understanding the European Markets - Mega Trends to follow

The speakers will focus on the most important trends for Americans to follow in the European markets, and will discuss how to capture the business and trade opportunities those mega trends provide. The program will be followed by a networking reception where participants can intercat with European representatives from CITCA and other international business executives in Chicago over cocktails and appetizers.

Consul General Aidan Cronin cordially invites members of the Ireland Network to the Midwest premiere of Jewellery Box, Ireland's Hidden Gems. This art exhibit features images from the 17 counties which touch the coast of Ireland. The exhibit will be on display at the Irish American Heritage Center through July 14.

Please join us at the opening reception on Friday, May 31 from 6-8pm in the Art Gallery for remarks by the photographer, Daragh Muldowney, as well as complimentary wine and hors d'oeurves.

IN-Chicago is proud to support the Irish American Hall of Fame's 2013 Awards Gala recognizing outstanding achievements on the national stage by Irish Americans in the fields of Public Service, Arts & Humanities, Business, Science, Education, Sports and Religion.

Inductees this year include US Ambassador Daniel M. Rooney, and General Eileen Collins (retired), both of whom will accept their inductions in person. Posthumous inductees include James Cagney, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Gene Tunney and Monsignor Ignatius McDermott.

Master of Ceremonies Lawrence O'Donnell, host of MSNBC's The Last Word, will host this Black Tie Gala, which will feature many special guests and speakers along with a special musical performance. The evening will begin with cocktails at 6:30pm. Tickets are $200. Click here for more details and for reservations.

First Friday leaves the building again. Join us for June's FF network gathering at O'Brien's Riverwalk Cafe, between Michigan & Wabash along the Chicago River, on June 7. Take the stairs down from Michigan Avenue bridge or Wabash Avenue bridge to Riverwalk Plaza on the south bank of the river.

Appetizers will be served and complimentary refreshments will be available for subscribed members. All are welcome, and as always, you can join or renew your membership on the night.

Rattlin' the Joists - on the beach...

Join us on Saturday June 15 for IN-Chicago's Annual picnic celebration Bloomsday performance on Montrose "Strand".

The Bloomsday performance will include excerpts from Ulysses, along with some of the best-loved songs associated with Joyce, and a poem on Mr. Bloom written by Milwaukee poet and writer Dennis Regan. These performances have been perfected over thirteen years of Bloomsday celebrations, so they're not to be missed! The performance will be directed by Josephine Craven (Inishfree Irish Arts actor) and performers include Josephine along with Brad Armacost (multiple "Jeff" award-winning actor), Brendan Gregg (Irish Rep actor), and Mark Piekarz (tenor).

You'll find our picnic base camp in a shady spot behind the "The Dock" pavilion at Montrose Beach (just south of Montrose Avenue, close to the beach), where there's ample space on sand and turf for a couple of hours of lakefront fun. If driving, we suggest parking at the east end of Montrose Avenue, just south on Montrose Harbor Drive, or in the lot nearby, then look for the tricolor flag within the trees behind the "The Dock".

Building on the success of last year's gathering, this year's event will once again feature delicious barbeque lunch fare from Smoque, a wide variety of cool refreshments, and all the watermelon you can throw.

Participation is free for IN-Chicago Members along with their families and guests. Registration is required for event planning purposes, and space is limited by Chicago Park District rules for group gatherings - so be sure to click the register button at left to reserve your spot...

IN-Chicago's Annual Movie-on-the-Roof (19 Jul 2013)

Join us on Friday evening July 19 for IN-Chicago's annual "Movie on the Roof" screening - enjoy the mid-Summer ambience of a private rooftop terrace in Lakeview while watching a great movie (selection to be announced...stay tuned...).

Cocktails begin at 7.30pm and the movie screening begins at 8.30pm. Participation is free of charge and open only to IN-Chicago Subscribed Members and their guests. Total attendance is strictly limited and registration is required - to reserve your place, please click the Register button at left.

Movie watchers are encouraged to BYOB and to each bring a folding chair if feasible (some extra chairs will be available). Movie snacks will be provided by IN-Chicago. The rooftop screening venue is a short walk from the Diversey L Station (Brown and Purple Lines) and is also convenient to stops on both the Halsted (No. 8) and Diversey (No. 76) bus routes. Exact address will be provided upon registration.
